  1. Plant Biologya large coniferous tree, Sequoiadendron giganteum (formerly Sequoia gigantea), of California, often reaching 300 ft. (91 m) in height, having reddish-brown bark, scalelike blue-green leaves, and bearing large elliptical cones. Also called giant sequoia. Cf. sequoia.
